Pillars of the Earth

The last month I have been on a big reading kick. I typically do not pick up big novels to read, because I do not have the attention span to follow them through. Pillars of the Earth is different though.

Much like the Twilight series, this book took me by surprise by how much I loved the characters. It is a historical novel that follows the main characters in the 12th century over a span of 40 years or so. It has a beautiful love story, the building of a cathedral in a small town in England all because of the prayer and dedication of a monk, mystery, sabotage, and war/politics. It is great.

After I read the last page-I did not feel the satisfaction of finishing a really long book like I normally would, but rather I was sad that I was done. As weird as this may sound-I miss the characters in the book! Anyway-if any of you have time to read-Pillars of the Earth is a great read and is worth the time investment. (They have made the book into a series on STARZ, and I can't wait to watch it!)

I've definitely heard of it before...maybe on Oprah or the NY Times bestseller list? It sounds interesting and very different from what I generally read. Hmm, maybe this winter...

And you KNOW it's a good book when you finish and you'll miss the characters! I heart reading! :)

cool! I haven't finished a book since the Twilight series, because my expectations are so high now! I've been afraid that Bella and Edward have ruined me forever!

But I just might give this book a try- I trust your opinion, and I know that you loved reading Twilight as much as I did!

I read that book a few years ago and LOVED it! Good news!!! there is a sequel!! it"s called "the ends of the earth" and is equally as good a read!
